On March 11, California Governor Newsom issued a directive to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, asking that all public gatherings of over 250 people be canceled between now and the end of March. To comply with the rules outlined in the directive, the Awesome 80s Run will not take place on March 29, but instead will offer the following options:
DEFER YOUR ENTRY TO 2021
If you would like this option, you don’t need to do a thing. Your entry will automatically be deferred to the Awesome 80s Run which will take place in San Diego on May 2, 2021.
TRANSFER TO THE VIRTUAL AWESOME 80s Run
If you choose this option, your race packet will be mailed to you including your race bib, blinking boombox medal, and T-shirt or trucker hat (whichever you selected when you registered). Packets will be mailed from March 30 to April 10. To switch to the Virtual Run, go to Events.com and follow the steps outlined here. You have until end of day on March 22, 2020 to choose this option, otherwise your registration will automatically be transferred to the 2021 Awesome 80s Run.
On behalf of all of us here at the Awesome 80s Run, thank you for flexibility and understanding. The health, safety, and well-being of our running community is our top priority. We look forward to seeing all of your happy, healthy faces soon!
